AFL Victoria congratulates the 12 AFL players who were presented with an All Australian blazer on Thursday night, after beginning their footy journeys in Victoria. To see such a strong display of home-grown talent recognised as the top elite players across the country is a proud moment for Victorian community footy and talent programs.

A total of seven debutants made their mark as stars of the game when the 2024 AFL All Australian Team was unveiled during the AFL Awards presentation on Thursday night.

Max Gawn, who played junior footy for Ormond Junior Football Club, adds his seventh blazer to his All Australian record, making Gawn the tenth player in competition history with seven or more All Australian blazers alongside Gary Ablett Snr, Gary Ablett Jnr, Patrick Dangerfield, Lance Franklin, Robert Harvey and Mark Ricciuto all have eight across their career, while Wayne Carey, Stephen Silvagni and current All Australian selector Nathan Buckley have seven apiece.

Eltham Junior Football Club product Marcus Bontempelli was named Captain of the All Australian team, with his sixth selection. The previous All Australian Captain from Western Bulldogs was Robert Murphy in 2015. Carlton's Patrick Cripps was named Vice-Captain with his fourth All Australian blazer.

Six players retained their places from the 22 players named in the 2023 AFL All Australian team – Daniel Houston (Greythorn JFC), Errol Gulden, Marcus Bontempelli (Eltham JFC), Nick Daicos (Kew Rovers JFC), Caleb Serong (Warragul FNC) and Zak Butters (Darley JFNC).
