2020 Themed Rounds

07 FEB 2020

AFL Victoria is pleased to announce that it will be supporting three themed rounds in 2020.

Love the Game

AFL Victoria is again showing that we Love the Game, not the odds during the dedicated Love the Game Round from May 1- 3. During this round, and throughout the season, we are encouraging all clubs and footy families to focus on footy, not the odds of winning.

Love the Game involves all 10 Victorian AFL clubs, state league competitions, community leagues and clubs across Victoria. There will be a range of activities throughout the month at local and state league matches, including the Essendon vs Casey Demons match at the MCG on Sunday May 3rd.

We’re encouraging all local clubs to join the program by saying no to sports betting sponsorship and host an activity throughout May to support the initiative. If your club believes betting and sports don’t belong together, get involved and show kids why footy is great without gambling.

Sockit2MND

AFL Victoria is proud to partner with FightMND again in 2020 for the statewide Sockit2MND Round from June 20-21.

Sockit2MND Round raises awareness for Motor Neurone Disease (MND), which affects thousands of Victorians each year.

FightMND is Australia’s leading Independent Motor Neurone Disease association, fighting to find a cure for MND through fundraising initiatives such as the Big Freeze, Daniher’s Drive and Sockit2MND Round.

Towards Zero

Following an incredibly successful state-wide fixtured round for all Victorian football clubs, the Transport Accident Commission’s Towards Zero Round will return in 2020, and is set to kick off from July 17-19.

In the inaugural round, more than 1000 local football clubs showed their support for road safety, with captains across metropolitan and regional Victoria swapping their usual playing number for the number zero.

Towards Zero Round aims to increase awareness about critical road safety issues and our responsibility to stay safe on the road, working towards a future free of deaths and serious injuries on our roads.
