AFL Victoria is pleased to confirm that the AFL’s Strategic Community Investment Fund (SCIF) will continue in 2023 and provide clubs and associations with important financial support.

Organisations are encouraged to review the criteria (www.aflvic.com.au/facilities-funding/strategic-community-investment-fund) and get applications submitted.

Over the past two years, the SCIF has awarded $2,472,000 in funding to Victorian community clubs, regions, leagues and associations. Over $1,000,000 of that approved amount has been paid to community clubs, assisting in a wide range of endeavours that enhance participation and sustainability for players, volunteers and clubs.

Community football is the heartbeat of so many Victorian towns and communities, playing a critically important role in not only providing participation opportunities but delivering a range of benefits across social, health, community and economic outcomes.

The AFL understands the challenges faced by football clubs across Australia, especially with a change of demographics and community expectations. Helping strategically strengthen, sustain and grow community football is a vital part of our job, and we will continue to invest into important initiatives to help grow the game and the communities involved.

Head of AFL Victoria, Ben Kavanagh, is excited at the news the SCIF will be offered again in 2023 after community football bounced back in 2022.

“We are pleased to be able to provide this funding opportunity through the SCIF to clubs that are proactive in improving player experiences, growing participation and assisting the wonderful volunteer workforce at community football.

"In 2023 we hope to see many more clubs utilise the SCIF to help them with projects and opportunities that meet one of the three key strategic areas.”

Interested parties are advised to review the updated 2023 guidelines to ensure applications are aligned with the type of activities that may be funded.
