International Women's Day 2024
This Friday the 8th of March is International Women’s Day, and the 2024 theme is Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress.
Through the AFL Women and Girls Action Plan, AFL Victoria is investing in opportunities for women and girls to grow their participation in community football as players, coaches, umpires and leaders.
You can accelerate progress for women and girls at your club in 2024 and beyond by taking advantage of the programs and opportunities on offer, with four places to start outlined below.
For more information please reach out to AFL Victoria’s Women and Girls Community Football Lead Georgia Case.
Lead Your Way Program
The Lead Your Way Program is now accepting applications from women and gender-diverse leaders in community football. Join our three-part leadership series with expert facilitators and football industry leaders to grow and develop your skills and network as a committee member.
Who can you encourage to apply at your club? Applications close at 11.59pm on Thursday 28 March.
Women and Girls Chartered Clubs
Become a signatory to the Women & Girls Community Football Charter and take action to make your club a more inclusive and welcoming environment for women and girls.
Gain access to resources, support and AFL recognition for your work, and take advantage of the guided process provided to gather Fair Access Policy evidence.
Coach Your Way Rookie Program
Coach Your Way is tailored to support women, girls, and gender-diverse coaches to begin their coaching journey with face-to-face education, on the job learning, and support.
Upskill and develop your current coaches - and plan for your club’s future - by tapping future coaches on the shoulder. Keep an eye out for workshop details at a location near you!
Telstra Footy Country Grants
Invest in women and girls at your club with funding support by applying for a Telstra Footy Country Grant this year. We encourage clubs to apply for initiatives that will assist you to ‘grow and diversify participation’ (category 2) and ‘improve environments and experiences’ (category 3).
Applications are now open to all community football clubs, so don’t wait! Click here to apply
