Williamstown Seagulls Seeks VFLW Match Day Doctor

Williamstown Football Club is seeking expressions of interest to become a VFLW Match Day Doctor for the 2020 season and beyond.

Main Duties:

  • Oversee and co-ordinate the medical department, working closely with Physios, the Head Trainer and High Performance Managers
  • Constantly liaise with Physio’s regarding the injury status of players throughout the week
  • Provide players treatment as required
  • Assist with Players booking or requiring referrals to specialists, imaging or collecting scripts and advise Football Manager of these requirements
  • Maintain database as prescribed by the Club of ALL player treatments
  • Work with other Medical Staff and Coaching Staff
  • Liaise with Football Manager regarding any other player issues
  • Assist Football Manager with any medical claims under Medicare and / or JLT Insurance
  • Understand, and abide by ASADA’s Code of Conduct and Rules in relation to prohibited substances



In-Season (May to September):

  • Liaise with men’s Doctor post game as he will attend Monday night recovery nights to assess and treat female and male players as required
  • Review written medical plans following the Monday night recovery session to assist Medical Staff which ensures the efficiency of the medical department and priorities the requirements of players
  • Provide clear and concise feedback to the Coaching Staff as to why a particular player has been deemed either eligible or ineligible to play by Tuesday night (prior to Wednesday night team selection)
  • Email injury availability report to Football Manager and Senior Coach on a weekly basis by the Tuesday of each week confirming the availability status of each player and the estimated return to play date
  • Attend Match Day’s as fixtured to assess and treat players as required.
  • Conduct end of season medical screening on ALL listed players in conjunction with the Head Physio



  • Bachelor of Medicine (copy to be held on Club file)
  • Bachelor of Surgery (copy to be held on Club file)
  • Bachelor of Medical Science (copy to be held on Club file)
  • Basic First Aid / CPR (copy to be held on Club file)
  • Working with Children’s Check (copy to be held on Club file)



  • WFC to pay you $400 per game invoiced through your ABN.
  • Should the Club be required to cover any costs due to you being unavailable for any training and / or match day, this will be deducted from your monthly installment
  • WFC to provide Club Uniform
