In 2018, the Robert Rose Foundation Victorian Wheelchair Football League (VWFL) was launched, providing Victorian’s with a physical disability the opportunity to play AFL in a regular competition.
Five teams will take part during in the inaugural season, with Disability Sport & Recreation (DSR) playing the key role of managing and administering the teams, working in close collaboration with the AFL Clubs involved.
Collingwood, Essendon, Hawthorn, Richmond and St Kilda all secured teams in 2018, and will be working closely with DSR and AFL Victoria on a range of initiatives to further develop the sport of AFL Wheelchair in Victoria.
The league provides a unique opportunity for people to participate in our great game. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it’s for everyone.
