AFL Victoria will celebrate our game’s rich multicultural community this month, as part of the 2018 Cultural Diversity Week festivities from March 17-25.
Proudly presented by the Victorian Multicultural Commission, with support from the Victorian Government, Cultural Diversity Week is Victoria’s largest multicultural celebration featuring an exciting program of festivals and events across metropolitan and regional areas.
In celebration of the dedicated week, AFL Victoria, in conjunction with the AFL, will highlight a number of multicultural on and off-field contributors who will share their stories on how Australian Football has helped them belong to their local community.
With more than 57,000 multicultural participants involved in Australian Football across Victoria last year, AFL Victoria Diversity Manager Xavier Moloney said the initiative was one that was important for the wider football community to embrace.
“We’re really proud to be supporting Cultural Diversity Week once again and to celebrate the many cultures our participants represent right across the state,” he said.
“Cultural Diversity Week is all about sharing stories, and we’re excited to be showcasing a number of multicultural contributors who make our game great.
“With an increase in participation numbers across a number of our AFL multicultural programs last year, there is no better time to embrace our game’s newest participants and celebrate our state’s rich cultural diversity.”
