Established in 1874, the Port Melbourne Football Club is one of the oldest, proudest and most successful clubs in Australia who are currently on the hunt for a Media Officer to provide social media content for our women’s team.

By way of introduction, our women’s team are about to enter their second season participating in the AFL South-Eastern Division 1 competition, with an open intention to hopefully progress to obtaining a VFL Women’s licence in the future.

A vacancy has recently opened up for an enthusiastic, committed and self-driven individual looking to gain a head start on their career in the sports media industry by providing game day and in-week online content specifically for our women’s team.

Specific duties required in this role would be as follows:

– Provide regular and informative Facebook and Twitter coverage on our women’s match days throughout season 2019.
– Write articles on the personnel of our women’s team, such as player/coach/staff profiles and any other relevant stories that arise during the season.
– Assist the Administration and Digital Media Coordinator with any video/audio/written content the club is producing for their online platforms.

This role would primarily involve weekend work (i.e. women’s match days) and significant travel during the football season, with a small amount of commitment possibly also required on training nights if the opportunity arose.

Ideally, this would suit a current or recently-graduated tertiary student looking to gain valuable experience in the industry. All written work will be credited on the Port Melbourne FC website and social media platforms, providing a huge amount of external exposure for outstanding work.

A very small remuneration to cover travel costs may be provided to the successful candidate, but the club is placing a greater emphasis on enthusiasm and passion for the role in searching for a suitable employee.

To apply, please address a resume and covering letter to Sam Wharton via email at: info@portmelbournefc.com.au.

Given the high expected volume of applications, only those successful for reaching the interview stage will be contacted.
