WorkSafe Club Safety Fund: 2021 Recipients Announced
AFL Victoria and WorkSafe Victoria would like to congratulate the twelve recipients of the 2021 WorkSafe Club Safety Fund.
All WorkSafe AFL Victoria Country clubs were eligible to apply for funding to make improvements to the safety of their facility and to assist with occupational health and safety initiatives with a contribution of up to 50 percent of total cost.
Clubs were required to provide evidence that a grant is needed to make their facilities safer and show evidence that an Occupational Health and Safety or Risk Management Program is being implemented.
This year’s recipients include the Nyah Nyah West United Football Netball Club who will receive $1000 to replace deteriorating goal post pads and the Dunnstown Football and Netball Club will receive $5000 to put safety netting behind their goals which backs onto a train line.
Head of AFL Victoria, Brad Scott, congratulated all clubs on their success.
“The Club Safety Fund is just one of the many ways WorkSafe supports our regional and rural clubs. We thank them for ensuring that the safety of our players, supporters and environments is always top of mind.
“These safety improvements support our goal of achieving a network of football facilities that are fit for purpose, welcoming and grow the game.”
WorkSafe Executive Director External Affairs Sam Jenkin said more than 300 local football and netball clubs had benefited from the Club Safety Fund since 2002.
“WorkSafe Victoria has always been dedicated to the health, safety and wellbeing of regional and rural communities, because when our workers are safe, we get to see them on the field and at the club.”
