Community football was back across the state last week and for the weekend ahead the Victorian Government has announced further easing of restrictions, applicable from 11:59pm Thursday 24 June.

This includes spectators being allowed to return to community football matches in metropolitan Melbourne.

Here’s a summary of what it means for community football:

Metropolitan Melbourne

  • Open for all ages, training and competition
  • Spectators allowed within venue and space limits
  • Maximum venue capacity 300 people per indoor space and 1,000 people outdoors (density quotient of 1 person per 4sqm)

Regional Victoria

  • Open for all ages, training and competition
  • Spectators allowed within venue and space limits
  • Maximum capacity 300 people per indoor space and 1,000 people outdoors

For community football in regional Victoria, we are seeking more information from the Victorian Government on the density quotient of 1 person per 2 sqm applying when using a COVID Check-in Marshal (otherwise density quotient of 1 person per 4sqm applies). We will provide further information as soon as it becomes available.

AFL Victoria is continuing to work closely with the Victorian Government to provide leagues and clubs with as much information as possible.
