New Ararat facility to host all-girls NAB AFL Auskick and Superkick programs

NAB AFL Auskick and Superkick will make footy more accessible than ever for girls in the Wimmera Mallee region in 2024.

Girls footy participation in the Wimmera Mallee region has received a huge boost, with the City of Ararat granting free access for new all-girls NAB AFL Auskick and Superkick programs to use Gordon Street Reserve Oval in 2024.

The brand-new Gordon Street Reserve Oval in Ararat will host weekly Auskick and Superkick sessions for girls on Wednesday afternoons for 10 weeks throughout Term 2.

The programs will kick off on Wednesday April 17 and run through to Wednesday June 12, providing a fun, friendly and inviting environment for girls aged between five and 12 years old. The AFL is focused on ensuring participation programs are as accessible and affordable as possible, with the 10-week seasons costing $40 for Auskick and $40 for Superkick.

NAB AFL Auskick is the perfect introduction for young girls wanting to try out Australian rules football, with a focus on fun and engagement. Sessions run for one hour per week, and there’s no need for expensive kit — Auskickers can wear whatever they’re comfortable in.

For slightly older girls, Superkick is a format of Australian rules football for everyone, welcoming kids from eight years of age. From experienced players to newcomers to the game, Superkick is played on a smaller field and is tackle-free, with 5-9 players on the field for each team. Each session starts with 15 minutes of skills before putting those skills into action with 45 minutes of fun, modified game play.
