Senior leaders from across Victorian community football gathered last Friday for the inaugural AFL Victoria Affiliate Chairs Forum at Marvel Stadium.

The forum was the first time that AFL Victoria has brought together community football decision makers from all parts of the state, including Country Regional Managers, Country League Chairs, Metropolitan League CEO’s and Metropolitan League Chairs.

The day began with an opening address delivered by AFL Executive General Manager, Game Development, Rob Auld, and senior figures of the AFL Victoria Advisory Board were in attendance, including by Lindsay Tanner (Chair), Jenny Taing and recently-appointed Damian Drum.

The purpose of the forum was to unite community football leaders from across the state and to workshop ideas for how to ensure the grassroots game thrives and support is directed in the right ways.

The Forum included presentations from key industry figures on crucial areas to Victorian football development, including:

  • Social Policy & Inclusion delivered by Tanya Hosch, AFL Executive General Manager Inclusion and Social Policy
  • Football Department Update delivered by Josh Mahoney. AFL General Manager Football Operations
  • Leadership & Governance delivered by Lindsay Tanner, Chair of AFL Victoria
  • Development of Strategy delivered by Nadia Okraglik + Tim Murphy from the AFL Strategy team

The forum concluded with a Future State of Victorian Football workshop to round out what was a productive day of strategic planning and discussion.
