Nominations are now open for the 2024 Toyota AFL National Volunteer of the Year Awards, which launched this week during National Volunteer Week. The annual awards recognise and show appreciation for the invaluable contribution that volunteers give to local football.

As part of launching the 2024 Toyota AFL National Volunteer of the Year Awards and as part of National Volunteer Week, 10 AFL Victoria-affiliated clubs were drawn at random (from clubs with five or more registered volunteers) to receive $1,000 each from a pool of $10,000. This funding is spread across five lucky volunteers at each club who each receive $200 and acknowledge the incredible work of local footy club volunteers.

There are around 200,000 volunteer roles performed in local footy across the country and all play an important role in keeping the grassroots game going.

The winning clubs drawn at random were:

- South Morang Football Club – Northern Football Netball League (110 registered volunteers)

- Strathmore Football Club – Essendon Districts Football League (186 registered volunteers)

- Mount Martha Junior Football Club – AFL South East (304 registered volunteers)

- Rokewood Corindhap Football Netball Club – Central Highlands (30 registered volunteers)

- Echuca United Football Netball Club – Murray Football League (21 registered volunteers)

- Moama Football Club – Murray Football League (7 registered volunteers)

- Fairpark Football Club – Eastern Football Netball League (27 registered volunteers)

- Monash Blues Football Club – Victorian Amateur Football Association (23 registered volunteers)

- Whitefriars Football Club – Victorian Amateur Football Association (9 registered volunteers)

- Preston Bullants Junior Football Club – Yarra Junior Football Club (23 registered volunteers)
