Funding opportunities available to support community football

Several community grant opportunities are now available for players, clubs, and leagues, as we look forward to the return of community football in 2022.

These grants are fundamental in the sustained success of grassroots football, as many clubs and leagues recover after another COVID impacted year.

Below is a list of some of the current AFL Victoria aligned programs with details on dates and application eligibility.


Sport and Recreation Victoria:

Community Sport Sector COVID-19 Survival Package

The Community Sport Sector COVID-19 Survival Package provides grants to support the operational viability of community sport and active recreation organisations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Country Football Netball Program

The Country Football and Netball Program provides funding to assist country football and netball clubs, associations and umpiring organisations to upgrade and develop facilities in rural, regional and outer metropolitan locations.

Change Our Game Scholarship Program

The Change Our Game Scholarship Grants Program provides funding for women to access professional learning and development opportunities that enhance skills in sport and recreation leadership and management.

Women working or volunteering in sport and active recreation in Victoria are eligible for funding, but must be nominated by recognised state sporting association, state sport and active recreation body, local government authority or regional sports assembly.

Applications to Round 1 of the 2021-22 program open on Tuesday 28 September and close at 5pm, Monday 25 October 2021.

Get Active Victoria:

Kids Voucher Program

The Get Active Kids Voucher Program helps eligible families get their kids involved in organised sport and recreation activities by reimbursing the cost of membership and registration fees, uniforms and equipment. Eligible children may be able to receive up to $200 each per round.

There are specific dates (claim periods) when you can apply. You must have incurred your expenses within specific dates too.

There is a total of 100,000 vouchers available from 1 March 2021 until 15 April 2022.

The application portal for Round 3 will open at 10am, Monday 4 October 2021 and close at 5pm on Tuesday 30 November 2021.
