28 MAY 2024 BY: AFL VICTORIA
The 2024 Metro Junior Development Series will be played across three days - 29 May, June 8 and 10

The 2024 AFL Victoria Metro Junior Development Series is set to commence this Wednesday evening, 29 May in what will the biggest ever edition of the annual junior interleague competition.

The Metro Junior Development Series is a talent pathway development program for under 14s and under 15s boys and girls Australian rules footballers. In 2024, more than 1350 players from local football leagues across metropolitan Melbourne will participate in the expanded program, which runs over three days:

Wednesday 29 May (night matches starting at either 5.15pm or 7.15pm)

Saturday 8 June (day matches starting at either 10am, 12pm or 2pm)

Monday 10 June (day matches starting at either 10am, 12pm or 2pm)

The series gives community leagues the opportunity to select players whose performance at local club level has warranted selection to participate in the interleague competition, as part of the talent pathway to higher-level programs for boys and girls, such as the Coates Talent League.

The competition includes representative teams from:

Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL)

Essendon District Football League (EDFL)

Frankston & District Junior Football League (FDJFL)

Northern Football Netball League (NFNL)

Riddell District Football Netball League (RDFNL)

South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL)

Western Football Netball League (WFNL)

Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL)

The 2024 competition has expanded to now include two Under 14 Girls divisions. There will be a total of 78 matches played across the three match days in the following eight divisions:

U15 Boys Division 1 and 2

U15 Girls Division 1 and 2

U14 Girls Division 1 and 2

25 different venues will host matches across the series, including RSEA Park in Moorabbin and Kinetic Stadium in Frankston.
