The U16 Kickstart program (male/ female) uses Australian football as a vehicle for participation, education, health/ well-being, employment and talent pathways for Indigenous participants state wide.


The Kickstart program also promotes cultural identity and leadership sessions to assist their personal development throughout their journey both on and off the field. The Kickstart program provides further development opportunities for participants in other parts of the football industry such as coaching, umpiring and administration.

The main purpose of the program is to create opportunities to develop U16’s both male and female to develop football skills as well as life skills in a culturally safe environment.

Kickstart both male and female also exposes participants to the talent pathway with opportunities progressing into Metro Junior Championships.

The next step being:

• NAB League (male/ female)

• AFL/ AFLW

• VFL/ VFLW

• State Leagues
