Twenty-two clubs in country Victoria are set to receive over $55,000 thanks to AFL Victoria and the WorkSafe Club Safety Fund.
The WorkSafe Club Safety Fund was established in 2002 to provide financial assistance at a local level to football and netball clubs to improve the safety of their grounds, delivering added safety for players, volunteers and spectators.
The funding will provide the opportunity for clubs to undertake a wide range of improvements including improved goal post padding, defibrillator replacements, new kitchen flooring and helmets for all junior participants.
The improvements will benefit community clubs by creating a safer and more inclusive environment for everyone involved in community football.
Head of AFL Victoria Rick Bell said its great to see more funding delivered to support local clubs via our partnership with WorkSafe.
“Providing community football clubs with this funding helps ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all people involved in our clubs.
“Our partnership with WorkSafe has been such a vital one for almost two decades and we appreciate their outstanding support in continuing to help us assist local clubs in really practical ways such as those funded here,” Mr. Bell said.
The second round of the 2019 WorkSafe Club Safety Fund will open for applications on 1 July 2019.
