Sports and Recreation Victoria 

The Victorian State government provides a range of grants and funding opportunities to support young girls and boys development from community clubs through to the elite level.

 

Our Community Grants
Our community lists an array of Federal and State Government, philanthropic and corporate funding opportunities at this site.

 

VicHealth
A pioneer in health promotion, VicHealth work to discover, implement and share solutions to the health problems facing Victorians. Funding grants become active at various times throughout the year with general and specific eligibility criteria.

 

Sport Australia

Sport Australia, acts on behalf of the Australian Government to play a central leadership role in the development and operation of the Australian sports system, administering and funding innovative sport programs and providing leadership, coordination and support for the sport sector.

 

Key Existing Grants

TAC Community Grants Program 

AFL Victoria is working with TAC for the introduction of the Towards Zero Club Grants Program which encourages active participation in the journey Towards Zero on our roads.

 

Energy Safe Victoria Canteen Grant

The Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) Canteen Grant program supports clubs to be more energy safe in their operations and increase awareness of energy safety issues at the community level.

 

WorkSafe Club Safety Fund 

The WorkSafe Club Safety Fund has been established to provide financial assistance to football/netball clubs to improve the safety of their grounds, providing added safety for players, spectators and those involved with the club.

 

Community Sports Infrastructure Fund

The Community Sports Infrastructure Fund provides grants for planning, building new, and improving existing facilities where communities conduct, organise and participate in sport and recreation.

 

Country Football and Netball Program

The Country Football and Netball Program provides funding to assist country football and netball clubs, associations and umpiring organisations to develop facilities in rural, regional and outer metropolitan locations.

 

Sports Incentive Program

Applicants can register projects to collect donations using the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) tax deductible status and receive consideration for discretionary grants from the ASF.

 

AFL Victoria New Multicultural Player Subsidies 

AFL Victoria has developed a State Grant Scheme to support the transition of new Multicultural participants from promotional programs to ongoing participation programs within the mainstream football pathway.

 

AFL Victoria Facilities Development Reserve

This funding used to support projects, primarily in Metropolitan Melbourne, that are not eligible for Country Football Netball Program Funding and have strong alignment with AFL Victoria’s Football Facilities Development Strategy.  Further information can be requested on this fund via general@afl.com.au

Country Football & Netball Program

The Country Football Netball Program provides grants of up to $100,000 for football and netball clubs, associations and umpiring organisations to develop facilities in rural, regional and outer metropolitan locations (NB: Any football clubs in the outer metropolitan councils of Wyndham, Melton, Hume, Whittlesea, Nillumbik, Yarra Ranges, Cardinia, Casey and Mornington Peninsula are eligible for funding). Projects can include: change room facilities for players and umpires of both genders; development or upgrading of football playing fields; development or upgrading of netball facilities; and development or upgrading of lighting facilities.

The closing date for the next round of applications is 31 January 2012. Only Local Councils can apply, so please discuss any project ideas with your local council.

Active Club Grants

VicHealth has opened their 2011/12 Active Club Grants. Grants of up to $2,500 per application are available for: 

  • Sports injury prevention and management equipment
  • Essential sporting equipment/items
  • Volunteer and club training
  • Portable sun shade

Key dates

  • Applications open: Monday 31 October 2011
  • Deadline for submission of applications: 4pm, Thursday 8 December 2011 
  • Successful applicants notified: early March 2012
