In partnership with Energy Safe Victoria, a canteen grant was made available to Victorian clubs in order to purchase new gas or electrical equipment for their club canteen to replace aging or unsafe equipment.

All Victorian clubs competing in leagues affiliated with AFL Victoria were eligible to apply for funding, to improve energy safety in club canteens as part of Energy Safe Victoria’s commitment to creating a safer state.

By accepting the grant, each local football club is helping raise community awareness about important energy safety issues, such as the dangers of non-electricians doing electrical work or the importance of checking your BBQ gas bottle connections before you start cooking.

The Grant was also designed to make Victorian club canteens safer by replacing old equipment with new, safe, energy efficient appliances. The canteen is a vital part of any football or netball club and AFL Victoria is thrilled to be working with Energy Safe Victoria and supporting community football clubs across the state.

The Energy Safe Victoria grant program is just one of many ways AFL Victoria is supporting the valuable efforts of local clubs.
