Not even grey skies could dampen the spirits of over 250 students who gathered at Victoria Park for the second Primary Schools Challenge on Wednesday.
Established last season, the Primary Schools Challenge provides Year 5 and 6 male and female students with an opportunity to participate in a modified version of Australia’s indigenous game in a fun, safe and encouraging environment.
Players from over 18 different schools were split into two divisions to go head-to-head for the coveted title.
In the Boys/Mixed division, it was Mont Albert and Yarraville who progressed through to the Grand Final, while Christ the Priest and Mont Albert qualified for the Girls decider.
After a hotly contested competition, it was Mont Albert who took home the silverware in both divisions, defeating Yarraville 6.3 (39) to 2.2 (14) and Christ the Priest 5.2 (32) to 3.4 (22).
