Value of a Community Football Club

Early in 2015, AFL Victoria released a landmark study conducted by Latrobe University into the value of a community football club.

The research provides a resounding endorsement of the many social and economic benefits that flow from Australian Football.

Conducted in partnership with AFL Victoria and the AFL, found that community football clubs generate a range of positive effects for local communities, including heightened levels of physical and mental wellbeing, social interaction and economic activity.

National Insurance Program

The National Risk Protection Program was first implemented throughout all football levels in 2004. In Victoria the program has had a significant benefit in two key areas:

Reducing the Insurance Premium levels. (An estimated total $1 million annual saving will be realised by Community clubs on their insurance bill)

Improving the quality of the insurance coverage with the exception of 2 leagues who have existing insurance contracts in place, all leagues in Victoria will benefit from the new arrangements.

 Volunteer Management

AFL Victoria’s Tackling Volunteers program aims to support local football leagues and clubs in the recruitment and retention of volunteers.

AFL Victoria not only provides a Volunteer management Workshop but also provides a position description for different roles that volunteers perform in the football club to help identify the type, and number, of people you need for your club to operate well.
