Parkin & Brown return for fourth WSGOTM

WorkSafe Game of the Month favourites David Parkin and Ben Brown are hitting the road this weekend for the fourth WorkSafe Game of the Month on Sunday June 18.

As far as mid-season blockbusters go they don’t come much bigger for Phillip Island and Dalyston than this Sunday’s Round 10 clash.

Not only will the Bulldogs and Magpies be fighting to solidify their place on the ladder, but they will also battling it out in the fourth WorkSafe Game of the Month.

Big crowds are expected at Cowes Recreation Reserve for the West Gippsland Football Netball Competition clash between second v fifth at 2pm.

North Melbourne favourite Ben Brown and AFL legend David Parkin will be in attendance to watch the big match that could go a long way to deciding the newly established West Gippsland league’s Top 5.

Rising up through the VFL ranks with Werribee Football Club, Brown has fast become a household name in Victoria, while Parkin’s contribution to the game as both a player and coach has seen him inducted into the Carlton Football Club and Australian Football Hall of Fame lists.

Held as a joint initiative with Netball Victoria, Parkin and Brown will be joined by a host of netball greats including former Diamond and Melbourne Kestrels Captain, Shelley O’Donnell, who will be on hand to meet the locals, share their sporting stories and enjoy the local atmosphere.

The match is one of eight WorkSafe Game of the Month games scheduled in leagues across the state this year, with the next match set to be held on Sunday July 16 between AFL Yarra Ranges’ Healesville and Olinda.

The WorkSafe Games of the Month are an important feature on the country football calendar, helping to highlight the importance of work-place safety to small communities such as Phillip Island and Dalyston.
