Spectator Behavior Program 2009

The Spectator Behavior program will continue again in 2009, this year focusing on junior finals at the Geelong Junior Football League and the Moorabbin Saints Junior Football league. A State Government initiative, 2009 ‘Encourage the Kids, Support the Game’ campaign is a community education campaign, funded by the Victorian Government and VicHealth, which aims to stamp out poor spectator behavior in junior sport so that players, parents, all spectators and officials can enjoy the game. The campaign has been developed by a committee which includes representatives from AFL Victoria, Basketball Victoria, Football Federation Victoria and Netball Victoria, with former North Melbourne champion Glenn Archer on board as the Football ambassador for the campaign .The campaign focuses on the importance of AFL Victoria’s codes of conduct for parents and spectators, as they ensure children are given the best possible opportunity and environment to play in.

All finals at the Geelong Junior Football League and the Moorabbin Saints Junior Football league will display a range of material including  fence banners, posters and a handy tips sheets for spectators and officials, all reinforcing the importance of positive spectator behavior at matches.
