Players from participating leagues and clubs across all levels of football– from grassroot leagues to Victoria’s state competitions – wore blue and white socks during the Sockit2MND Round to raise awareness of the disease, and much need funds for FightMND.

Many clubs who missed out on purchasing socks in 2018, rallied and supported via club fundraisers, events and through social media, creating a wave of awareness over the weekend.

The dedicated Round was a great opportunity for the football community to join together to help make a difference, and we were thrilled with the support it received.

We are excited to say that 130 Victorian clubs registered and wore socks across the weekend raising much needed funds for Fight MND, which equates to 9530 pairs of socks purchased in total!

Since launching in 2014, FightMND has committed more than $23 million into research designed to ultimately find a cure for MND, while a further $2.5 million has been invested to purchase vital equipment to assist with the care of MND patients across Australia.

Through the dedicated state-wide Round, AFL Victoria is pleased to announce that Community football and netball clubs have raised over $145,000 from the Sockit2MND campaign and this number continues to rise!

Thank you to the all the 130+ wonderful clubs who raised much needed funds for such a fantastic cause.
