Victoria’s most talented Under 18 Girls players have the opportunity to showcase their talents throughout the year in two high performance talent pathways- AFL Victoria Under 18 Girls Competition and the AFL Under 18 Girls National Championships.
The AFL Victoria Under 18 Girls Competition is the first opportunity female players aged 15 to 18 have to showcase their development and test themselves against other talented females in different regions.
All twelve TAC Cup clubs; namely the Bendigo Pioneers, Calder Cannons, Murray Bushrangers, North Ballarat Rebels, Geelong Falcons, Western Jets, Sandringham Dragons, Dandenong Stingrays, Oakleigh Chargers, Eastern Ranges, Northern Knights and Gippsland Power have an elite Under 18 Towards Zero Youth Girls Academy player development program. The competition will be held during March and April. The Under 18 girls teams will play 5 games against other Towards Zero Youth Girl Academy teams which will allow selectors of the Vic Country Under 18 Girls and Vic Metro Under 18 Girls plenty of opportunities to view the talent on show.
Following on from the AFL Victoria Under 18 Girls Competition, the AFL Youth Girls National Championships sees the most talented Under 18 female footballers from across the country battle it out for the coveted national title.
Both Victorian Country and Victorian Metropolitan representative sides will play each other in Victoria in June, then Western Australia, Queensland and NSW/ACT in a carnival on the Gold Coast in July. A combined South Australia, Tasmania and Northern Territory team will also play Western Australia, Queensland and NSW/ACT in the carnival.
